My Poetry from the Heart

This poem was one of my first ones, I actually won a poetry competition with it back in 2005.

Crocodile
I am but a lonely crocodile
In this river, I’ve been for quite a while
When a boat comes by
I make a special effort to give them
A big toothy smile

I don’t have many friends
So I like to see boats, every once in a while
Now and again I will go for a swim
I’m sorry if it saddens you
For me to want someone to fall in

What saddens me more
Is when the hunters come
And make handbags and shoes
Out of me and my family for fun

Don’t they know I have feelings
And that ‘I’ am alive
Just one of God’s many creatures
Simply hoping to survive!

In their paradise land

A tropical island
A single man
A soft warm breeze
A lady waiting
Under the trees

He takes her hand
In their paradise land

A single thought
A gentle touch
A loving smile
A lady that’s been
Waiting, for quite a while

She takes his hand
In their paradise land

They stand together
Knowing not what to say
They look at each other
In such a loving way

As they walk hand in hand
Upon the shore of their paradise land

The river of life

Thou art like a flowing river
That bends and sweeps over
Land so still
You swish and sway
Your way down stream
Like life with its many twists and turns

Quiet, calm and still
Then over rocks you make your way
Taking many chances
Which is safe, which is not
How will you know
Until you try them all

Along the river of life

Just like God

Just like God
I hold you in my hands
Though you may be tiny
He always understands

He takes away
Your worries and woes
And loves you right through
To your tiny little toes

He guides you, in all you do
He loves you
Just because
You are you

He loves it when
You sing a sweet song
In you
God can see no wrong

You may be tiny
You may be small
But God loves you
Best of all

Be in his hands
Which are safe and strong
Within Gods love
Is where you, and I, belong

Always there for me

He is always there for me
He never judges me
He simply cares for me
He never tells me off
He never stands and scoffs
He is simply there for me

For in his eyes I can do no wrong
For him I would sing a sweet song
For his love to be able to shine through
For me to love others too
For I am simply there with him
For he was there before my life was to begin

He watches over me when I sleep
He makes no promises he cannot keep
He loves me with all of his heart
He and I will never be apart
He sends me sunshine every day
He likes me to be happy in every way

Because…………
He, is simply, there for me
