Book Covering

My take on covering a book be it a journal or Bible
or simply any book you wish to cover

The above cover was a quilted one.  I took squares of different material then stitched them together, added some wadding and stitched a plain inside piece to the outside.  After they were together I ran the sewing machine over them to give a quilted effect.  The whole cover could have been done by hand as well.  I made sure I had a big enough piece of material overall to cover the whole book and to be able to fold back a small flap for the front of the book to anchor itself into and then an extra bit on the back to add a pocket for notes/pictures etc.  When I make the next cover I will not do the middle flaps as they are not really necessary.  Fun to make and special for each design as it is purely our/your own kind of cover.

Talking of books......

I saw this at the Royal Academy of Art in London, I thought why not I should give it a go......... made by cutting out the insides of the book and layering in your photographs, cut round of course to aid seeing the different ones.  I painted the cover with acrylic paints and a fantastic paper I had found ( Schut Aquarel Flamboyant) its great paper.  Back to the book, then cut the cover to fit, added some embellishments and there you have it....
